Mind Sky

2008

Mind Sky was formed in August of 2001 by drummer Keith Welch and Bass/ Stick player Chris Meeker. Their ambition was to form a band that would create original works of music in the spirit of the great progressive rock bands, past and present. Bands like Genesis, Yes, Rush, and The Flower Kings formed the basis for their inspiration. And even with changes in the bands line up over the years, this vision has held true.

From 2001-2005, Mind Sky performed a number of live shows sharing the bill with national and regional acts such as IZZ, Frogg Cafe, Land of Chocolate, Maelstrom Percussion Ensemble, Sweating Like Nixon and was even honored to be the opening act for the legendary progressive fusion band Gamalon. And in 2005 Mind Sky recorded and released their ambitious debut CD ‘Timewise’; an intriguing CD which captures the feeling of inspiration at the heart of the band.

MIND SKY has made its move to join others in the “new wave” of progressive rock with an approach similar to established contemporary progressive artists like Transatlantic, Spock’s Beard, Echolyn, Dream Theater and The Flower Kings; with a passion and respect for the great “prog-rock” bands of the past and with an eye to the horizon, working to create new music that inspires and challenges.

So in the true spirit of the word “progressive”, there will be more to come from MIND SKY…
